Comprehensive reform RM, apartment with Calvià views

Open to the Mediterranean
BUILDING
The project is located in a building on the seafront in Calvià, carried out by a prestigious architecture firm in the 1960s. Of the complex, the common landscaped areas stand out on which, on thick concrete columns, three buildings of 10 heights, freeing the ground floors and allowing direct views over the garden and the sea from the access level. Each floor is made up of four apartments for second residences of about 70m2 each.
AIM
Our client was the owner of a home and bought the adjoining home with the intention of joining them and turning them into a single home to spend long periods of time in Mallorca. We approached this exciting challenge with enthusiasm for all that it implied: The change of use of the home, the complete redistribution of the spaces and the possibilities of the property that represent a blank canvas with the exterior walls and structures as the only limit to our creativity. .
INTERVENTION
We find many partitions, small spaces that convey an oppressive feeling, something paradoxical in a house with sea views. We tackle the challenge of releasing the full potential of the home, opening it to the Mediterranean Sea and letting light flood its rooms. Our proposal offers a design that plays with the staggered façade of the building, articulating and seeking the maximum amplitude of interior spaces through long internal diagonal visuals and enhancing the privileged views of the sea while also seeking exterior light. The bedrooms are located on the north façade, with smaller façade openings. The materials and colors chosen give serenity to the whole, creating a curtain where the modern design furniture is located. Only three are used throughout the house: iroko wood for interior and exterior carpentry; Porcelain floor with sandstone color and texture (similar to Santanyí stone), and white for the walls and kitchen. The result speaks for itself of the transformation experienced and the success of the intervention.
